IMPORTANT - There are now available, a number of cement board systems, from different cement board manufacturers. Recommendations may vary from board to board, or manufacturer to manufacturer. It is important that the subcontractor and installer are familiar with the specification and board that is being installed, so that all criteria for installation of the board and stone, brick slip or tile adhesion are met.
If in doubt consult the cement board manufacturer.
There may be a weight per square metre requirement for the board being used. It is important that the weight per square metre be established, of the product being adhered, to see if additional support steel angle fixing is required.
In certain cases, there will be requirements to use a steel angle fixing, to accommodate the weight per square metre of stone, brick slips or tiles. Refer to the specification of the board to be used.
When fixing within coastal areas, use stainless steel angles and fixings. In other areas use hot dip galvanised angles. Different manufacturers may have different recommendations for this, so it is important to refer to their specification.
Refer to the specification of the Manufacturer and board being used to determine requirements and specification when adhering stone, brick slip facings and tiles to cement board.
If in doubt consult the cement board manufacturer..
ALWAYS USE A CEMENT BOARD THAT IS RECOMMENDED FOR THE SITUATION.
Once the cement board has been installed correctly to the manufacturers' specification, product adhesion may commence.
